Coral look at five all-action performances from footballers which ended badly after starting so brightly.

Lacina Traore

The Monaco forward recently scored four and got sent off in the first half of his side’s 10-2 cup win over amateur side JS St Jean Beaulieu in what is probably the most memorable match of 2016 so far.

Roy Keane

This probably typifies the phrase ‘all-action’, with Keane instrumental during Manchester United 3-2 semi-final win over Juventus in the Champions League when they went onto win the final in 1999.

The Turin titans were 2-0 up, before Keane and Dwight Yorke scored to draw level, with the former going on to marshal the midfield for the rest of the game, before his yellow card ensured he missed the Champions League final.

Sadio Mane

Southampton’s Senegalese forward equalised against Liverpool earlier this season at Anfield, before getting a second yellow card in stoppage time, which saw him go from hero to zero in a matter of minutes. He has been one of the stars for Saints this term, who are 14/1 with Coral to finish in the top six of the Premier League this term.

Jonathan Woodgate

SPAIN SOCCER

Arguably the debuts of all debuts, the centre back scored an outstanding own goal during his first appearance in Real Madrid colours, before picking up a second yellow card against Athletic Bilbao.

Wayne Rooney

Never far from controversy the Manchester United and England captain has had a number of incidents over the years that have resulted in red cards, though perhaps the most recent that stands out is his club’s 2-1 win over West Ham last season.

Having struck a wonder goal, majestically curling beyond goalkeeper Adrian, he was then dismissed with a straight red card after he lashed out at then Hammers midfielder Stewart Downing.
