Hornets have Suarez in sights
The January transfer window is in full swing and Watford are reportedly closing in on a massive winter coup, as Quique Sanchez Flores looks to bolster his set-up with the addition of a talented Serie A midfielder.
The Hornets have been impressive on their return to the Premier League this season, contesting for a top 10 position at this crucial stage, and they are now close to agreeing a move for Fiorentina midfield maestro Mario Suarez.
Watford and the Italian outfit have already entered into negotiations over such a switch and the deal is believed to be edging closer, with Suarez keen on reuniting with Sanchez Flores following their time working together at Atletico Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion and Gary Neville’s Valencia were also understood to be interested, but the 28-year-old is now prepared for a move to Vicarage Road this month instead.
Toon tracking Lacazette deal
Despite having previously ruled himself out of a move to England, Lyon hitman Alexandre Lacazette is now believed to be interested in joining up with Newcastle United, following the club making the Frenchman their number one transfer target.
The 24-year-old has caught the eye in the past 18 months with his incredible goal scoring exploits, having bagged an impressive 27 Ligue 1 strikes last campaign, and Steve McClaren is trying relentlessly to acquire his services in a bid to avoid relegation.
After cooling their interest in West Brom poacher Saido Berahino, Lacazette would represent an even bigger scoop in the winter market, with the Magpies reportedly willing to pay over £20m to land their man and make him one of the club’s highest earners.
The Toon had been linked with Tottenham’s Andros Townsend for quite some time now too, but the Northeast side are unwilling to fork up the demanded £14m which their London rivals have rated the winger at.
Hammers hunt for Batshuayi
West Ham United are also interested in some business as the January market nears its final stages this week, with Slaven Bilic’s Hammers hoping to acquire Marseille frontman Michy Batshuayi.
The east Londoners have outlined the 22-year-old striker as their key target, having been scouting him all season, and he could be the subject of a substantial £20m offer ahead of a big year for the club.
Bilic’s men will make the switch to the Olympic Stadium later this year and Batshuayi is one player the club are hoping to add before that relocation, after dispatching 15 goals and making 13 assists in 31 outings so far this term.
