Meanwhile, Southampton coach Ronald Koeman has reportedly told sought-after stars Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama to concentrate of finishing the season at St Mary’s, with no plans to sell until summer.

Italian sides considering moves for ageing Premier League players? This rumour rings a bell or two, with Liverpool back-up centre half/cheerleader Kolo Toure and Chelsea stalwart Branislav Ivanovic the latest to be tipped to follow in Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic’s shoes.

The defensive-minded duo may extend their top-flight careers in Serie A, with Lazio lurking for Toure and both Milan clubs set to scuffle for Ivanovic.
