Man City target Sane services

With the January transfer window set to open tomorrow, clubs are ready for a month of scrambling around the market for new signings in a bid to bolster their squad the remainder of this current campaign.

That includes Premier League title favourites Manchester City, as Manuel Pellegrini prepares a bid for talented Schalke playmaker Leroy Sane in order to reinforce his attacking ranks.

The Sky Blues already possess plenty of forward quality in summer signing Raheem Sterling, record acquisition Kevin De Bruyne and the mercurial David Silva, but Sane would provide even more of a creative spark.

Schalke seek sizeable offer for Sane

Schalke’s 19-year-old forward threat has become one of the hottest prospects in European football, but his German employers are holding out an offer around £32m, with City having been interested in signing Sane since 2013.

Sane agreed fresh terms in the summer to extend his current contract until 2019 in the Bundesliga and, also became a full Germany international, meaning City may have to pay a mammoth price in order to get their man.

The Citizens may face competition for Sane from Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants having been scouting him extensively, while Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are also said to be interested, though it’s City that currently lead the race for Germany’s latest hot property.

Reds close to Grujic capture

Former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp is close to agreeing his first signing as Liverpool coach, with Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic having reportedly been granted a work permit.

Although, the 19-year-old is expected to spend the rest of this term back on loan with Belgrade after such a deal is struck between the clubs.

Elsewhere, present Premier League leaders Arsenal are close to capturing Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel, after the 23-year-old apparently passed his club medical, but Arsene Wenger may see the player’s move stall due to a work permit issue.

The Basel midfielder’s switch to north London is being held up because of a work permit problem but it’s believed the capital club will pay up to £7m for his services in this winter market.
