Are Pep and Leo deals to Man Utd too ambitious?

We start off the day with a very intriguing story from Spain, which suggests that Manchester United’s lucrative kit sponsor Adidas want to reunite Pep Guardiola with Lionel Messi at Old Trafford in the summer.

The current Bayern Munich boss will leave the German giants at the end of the season and has stated his preference in moving to the Premier League, while recent Ballon d’Or winner Messi is continuously linked away.

A more likely signing for the Red Devils, though, would be Algeria international striker Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon, a club that United have dealt with before after signing Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani from them. Prolific frontman Slimani, 27, is reportedly worth around £12m.

Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal is also hoping to bolster his defence, after his side’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle United, and Austria’s Aleksandar Dragovic has apparently caught his eye. With 38 caps already to his name at the age of 24, the Dynamo Kiev centre back is certainly a talent.

Blues in for Kroos

Across to fellow under-fire top-flight team Chelsea, they are said to have made a whopping £40m offer from Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos.

The Blues are also reportedly interested in Argentina attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi from PSG, though Inter Milan and Barcelona are rumoured to be targeting him too.

Liverpool, who just played out a 3-3 thriller too with table-toppers Arsenal, are looking to sign further back-up in defence despite securing the loan deal of Steven Caulker from QPR, with a number of stars still out injured.

Schalke’s Joel Matip is seemingly the man on Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist, though won’t be able to get him until the end of the season when he becomes a free agent.

Finally, the future of Saido Berahino is still in doubt, as he started from the bench against Chelsea, but reports suggest that Stoke City are about to swoop for the controversial striker, and hope to beat long-term suitors Tottenham for his signature.
