La Liga giants fight for PL stars
We are now a third of the way into the January transfer window, which has already seen a number of signings, and of course many rumours are still flying around as clubs desperately battle it out for stars.
First up, it seems a couple of Premier League players could be on their way out as Barcelona have joined the ever-building race to recruit Everton defender John Stones, while Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey is also a target.
Reports suggest that Stones’ clubmate Romelu Lukaku could also be on his way to Spain with capital club Real Madrid a favoured destination for the Belgian, along with PSG, scuppering Manchester United’s hopes of getting the 22-year-old.
But, the Toffees are already lining up a huge £21m bid to sign Dynamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko this current window, with Kevin Mirallas out of favour.
Back to PSG and Arsenal, the north London outfit are said to be looking to land Adrien Rabiot, who has long been mooted for a move to England. Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka is also a target for the Gunners.
Are Man Utd really happy with their squad?
Following Man Utd’s dreadful display in their narrow 1-0 win over League one outfit Sheffield United in the FA Cup on Saturday, it would seem that Louis van Gaal needs to heavily recruit once again.
However, the Dutchman has suggested that his squad doesn’t need improving, saying: “I cannot discuss that with you. I don’t think we shall do business in January.
“But you cannot say that because when there is a chance to make the selection better, we shall do it, but I don’t think we shall do that. But that is this moment.”
Still, though, top talent are being linked to Old Trafford, with the likes of Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson and Wolfsburg left wing back Ricardo Rodriguez reportedly on their radar.
Neighbours and bitter rivals Manchester City, meanwhile, are ready to offload Wilfried Bony back to Swansea City, with the Welsh side also tracking for Citizen Nigel de Jong.
