Carhue Princess has an excellent record at Towcester and can take advantage of a drop in the weights to further enhance it with victory in the 2m 3f handicap chase there today (15.10).

The Tom Symonds trained mare has won three times and been placed once in just six starts at the venue, and relishes the stiff uphill finish.

In the last of those successes back in January, Carhue Princess showed a tremendously game attitude to dig deep and to beat Khazium by 1 1/2 lengths off a mark of 90.

The nine-year-old went on to finish third at this venue off 92, and is now able to race off a reduced rating of just 88.

That is 2lb lower than when last successful and gives Carhue Princess major claims from a handicapping perspective.

The daughter of Desert Prince also shaped really well on seasonal reappearance when third in a handicap hurdle at the track, and although disappointing last time out when a distant third over fences at Fakenham was not partnered by regular pilot Benjamin Poste.

Towcester

Poste gets a good tune out of Carhue Princess and has partnered her two her last two successes, and better can be expected now that he is back in the saddle at a venue which clearly suits.

Georgian King to deliver in 3m handicap chase

In the 3m handicap chase (13.10), Georgian King looks decent value to get back to winning ways.

The Martin Keighley trained gelding was in good form in the second half of last season, scoring by nine lengths over course and distance before defying a 7lb rise in the weights to follow-up at Warwick off a rating of 107.

Georgian King has since run well to make the frame on a couple off occasions of 109, including last time out when third at Chepstow.

The assessor has since been kind in dropping the 12-year-old a couple of pounds, and as a result Georgian King is able to race in this off his last winning mark.

It gives the son of Overbury every chance at the weights at a track where he is 1-1, and with Ian Popham in the saddle everything looks in place for a big run.
