Time for Van Gaal to roll the dice or roll over at Man Utd

Van on the verge?
Manchester United, 9/1 with Coral to win the Premier League, have never been crowned English champions while playing it safe.
If Louis van Gaal has been paying attention, he should know this. Predecessor David Moyes found this out the hard way. With the squad at their disposal, there are no excuses. The Dutchman has everything he needs to do his job, including £250m worth of investment who have failed to pay dividend.
Speaking of which, if Christmas bonuses do exist in football, he should consider keeping his job beyond January as exactly that.
The general consensus among the mainstream media is that Van Gaal doesn’t have the stomach to take the risks required to deliver the Premier League over the remainder of the season.
While United play (using the term loosely) in red and white, ironically their current form could result in a pink slip for the former Netherlands boss if the team don’t change to a more attacking style; a foundation on which the club has grown over the last two decades.
Giggs good to galvanise greatness
The answer is staring the board in their face. While there are pieces, they are far from moving and Van Gaal’s metaphorical board is far from set for maximum efficiency.
Ryan Giggs, multiple trophy winner at the club will do what Van Gaal won’t. Let’s roll the dice and play a little monopoly. What box will United land on at the end of the season if they carry on playing the way they currently are?
Probably Fleet Street, because the nation’s tabloid and broadsheet media are primed to make Van Gaal a scapegoat and there will be no letup.
We saw when Moyes was dismissed what Giggs was capable of. He wasn’t afraid to give youngsters a chance (and not as a last resort), he encouraged attacking football and more than anything went back to basics.
Under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson, the ruthless winning paradigm was ingrained in him and he must be thinking already that he can do a better job than his superior. Patience prohibits progression, paradoxically potentially in this case.
The Welshman has been biding his time over the last season and a bit, biting his tongue most probably on numerous occasions this campaign. Should Van Gaal go, Giggs needs to step up and shoulder the responsibility he has so blatantly been groomed for.
Although “Take Me Home, Country Roads” rings around Old Trafford still on matchdays, at the minute, United lack the direction to steer themselves to their desired destination.
