Manchester City v Swansea City

  • Premier League
  • Saturday, December 12th
  • Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
  • Etihad, Manchester

It’s been a strange week for Swansea. They opted to sack manager Garry Monk after a poor start to the campaign, a decision that has angered plenty of Swans fans. A trip to Manchester City isn’t likely to improve the atmosphere around the managerless Welsh outfit. Three points for either side will be well-received though, with a grueling Premier League fixture schedule over Christmas.

The hosts are fresh from topping their Champions League group so City are the standout odds-on 1/3 favourites with Coral here. They have lost just one of their eight matches against their opponents in the Premier League and it is four wins from four on their own patch.

It took four matches for Swansea to even score a goal at the Etihad, while the Citizens have helped themselves to a handy 10 in that same period, so backing the hosts to notch over 3.5 goals at 3/1 looks wise. Yaya Toure is a man who loves a goal in this fixture, he has four in the last three renewals and he’s 2/1 to add another.

Crystal Palace v Southampton

  • Premier League
  • Saturday, December 12th
  • Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
  • Selhurst Park, London

Two teams suited to playing away from home clash at Selhurst Park, where pace will be the order of the day. That would make a win for Saints at 9/5 a pretty attractive proposition. Throw in the fact that they have won all of their preceding four top-flight clashes with the men from the south coast, and it looks even better.

The direct Sadio Mane could prove pivotal in this clash and he’s sure to give the Palace full-backs nightmares. He’s arguably been the club’s top performer this term and scored in his previous two outings against the Londoners, an opener for the Senegalese is 6/1.

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Chelsea v Southampton - Stamford Bridge

Southampton have found the net in five of their seven away jaunts in the Premier League and have the best defence outside the top 10. Alan Pardew’s men have drawn a blank in two of three at Selhurst, so a clean sheet for the visitors (23/10) is a real possibility. Pair that with an away win (19/5) and it is a very profitable one.

Sunderland v Watford

  • Premier League
  • Saturday, December 12th
  • Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
  • Stadium of Light, Sunderland

Slowly but surely, improvement has started to show under Sam Allardyce as Sunderland have become difficult to beat and annoying to play against. Defeat at Arsenal last week was unfortunate and prior to that they had recorded successive Premier League victories.

The Black Cats are 17/10 to get their third win under their new boss against Watford. The Hornets will not make that easy though. The London club have the fifth best defence in the division and have won four of their last six top-flight matches, they’re 9/5 for another three points.

Two cautious approaches makes the draw between Sunderland and Watford the most interesting punt at 2/1. Combine that with two sturdy looking defensive units and a 1-1 scoreline at 5/1 makes sense.

West Ham United v Stoke City

  • Premier League
  • Saturday, December 12th
  • Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
  • Upton Park, London

The Potters are on fire of late, having beaten the likes of Chelsea, Southampton and, most recently, Man City all to nil, and you can back them to do so to West Ham as well at 15/4.

Stoke are still very tempting 2/1 shouts just for the win, despite the Hammers (6/4 favourites) being on a run of five top flight matches without a win.

Slaven Bilic’s boys are still four places above Mark Hughes’ men, but the latter can leapfrog the east Londoners with a victory being just one pint behind.

The likes of Marko Arnautovic and Xherdan Shaqiri were on top form against the Citizens last weekend, and are respective 15/8 and 9/4 shouts to net anytime here. For West Ham, meanwhile, Andy Carroll tops his side’s market at 7/4.
