Lingfield preview: Aleator appeals in Coral Handicap

Aleator has posted solid efforts to finish runner-up on his last two starts, but can go one better to get back to winning ways in the 1m 2f Coral Handicap on today’s card at Lingfield (14.00).
The Sir Mark Prescott trained gelding was last successful in an extended 1m 1f contest at Wolverhampton back in September when staying on strongly to score by a neck off a mark of 79.
Aleator backed that up with a solid second at Nottingham off 85, and after a below par effort at Chelmsford bounced right back to form at this venue two starts back when third of nine to Mindurownbusiness over 1m.
After being held-up in the latter, Aleator finished with a real rattle to be gaining at the finish and beaten just two lengths.
The winner is a highly progressive sort who has since come out and bolted up at Chelmsford off a rating of 105, and the form looks rock solid in the context of this contest.
Aleator followed up that effort with a cracking second over course and distance 12 days ago, and although now 2lb higher in the weights the son of Blame’s current mark of 88 does not look beyond him given his progressive profile.
Prescott primed for double
In the 7f handicap (14.30), Sir Mark looks to hold leading claims of landing a quick-fire double with the thriving Seychelloise.
The filly is in the form of her life at present and comes into the contest on the back of two facile successes.
In the last of those over 6f at this venue, Seychelloise made all and drew clear for two out to win unchallenged by 1 3/4 lengths off a mark of 80.
The three-year-old was value for much more than the winning margin, and the manner of the performance suggested there was plenty left in the locker.
Although Seychelloise has been hit with an 8lb rise for that success, the daughter of Pivotal is on a serious upward curve and it is unlikely to be enough to stop her going in again.
The step back up to 7f is also a big plus and, with Luke Morris in the saddle, Seychelloise can land the hat-trick.
