Friday feeling for Forest?
Dougie Freedman’s Nottingham Forest make the trip to face Wolves for a Friday night Championship clash, as they seek a third successive domestic league victory, having recently enjoyed their best form of the current campaign.
It’s the visitors who have the upper-hand in previous match-ups, with three victories from the second tier pair’s last four league meetings, and Freedman’s men enter their latest encounter at 5/2 with Coral for another victory.
Forest will know a win on their travels can boost chances of reaching a play-off position this season, after securing 23 points already at this early stage and are only six adrift of current sixth-placed and final play-off spot holders Cardiff City.
Recent history to repeat itself?
Freedman witnessed his talented team comfortably overcome Fulham 3-0 in their last outing, with Matt Mills having struck on either side of teammate Chris O’Grady’s goal. Mills is 13/2 to find the net again this time around, while O’Grady is 7/1 to open proceedings after dispatching in two consecutive games against the Cottagers and Reading too.
Meanwhile, the Wanderers are aiming to win back-to-back games over their Championship rivals, following their 2-1 triumph earlier this year at the end of last season, when they earned a narrow 2-1 win on the road.
Wolves frontman Benik Afobe was on target in that previous league coup, opening proceedings after 46 minutes of action, and the menacing forward is 4/1 to score first again on home turf here while adding to his eight season strikes so far.
Freedman pleased with Forest form
Visiting boss Freedman outlined his delight at his side’s current run of form and declared that he was sure they would turn things around, following a stuttering set of results early on in the term.
“I am pleased because these results have been coming for a long time. Now we are converting our chances, to go with our good performances, and picking up wins,” said Freedman, whose men are 6/1 to win and both teams score.
“I am very happy because it was a professional performance [against Fulham] in what were difficult conditions for both teams. We showed resilience and determination to keep the ball out of the back of the net.
“I am here to win games of football…”
“We defended well in the opening 20 minutes and, in the end, we ended up comfortable winners. We took our chances at the right time.
“Was it a great spectacle? No, it wasn’t. But I am here to win games of football and that is exactly what we did.”
Wolves currently sit just a single point above their latest opponents in the table in 14th position, as the hosts look to extend their unbeaten run to five matches and the visitors seek a momentous three points, but a stalemate at 12/5 looks possible in this potentially tight tussle.
