After another weekend of absorbing sporting action, Coral look back at what happened with a series of photos that illustrate things perfectly…

Old Guard goes International at Cheltenham

Cheltenham Saturday

Paul Nicholls bay gelding Old Guard made it three wins from three around Prestbury Park this season, and followed up his Greatwood Hurdle success with victory in the International Hurdle, as hot favourite Peace And Co flopped and finished last. Old Guard amazingly still holds longer odds than his rival for the Champion Hurdle at the 2016 Cheltenham Festival.

Cherries follow up Chelsea scalp by defeating Red Devils

Britain Soccer Premier League

Promoted Premier League team Bournemouth moved above Chelsea in the table. No, it’s not a misprint. Eddie Howe’s men built upon their sensational Stamford Bridge result by beating a defensively threadbare Manchester United 2-1 at Dean Court.

That prompted the above jubilant celebrations from opening goalscorer Junior Stanislas and his Cherries teammates. Joshua King, an Old Trafford academy product, got the winner.

Mendy inflicts maiden defeat on British hope Campbell

O2 Arena Boxing

Luke Campbell entered last weekend’s undercard as a huge favourite to overcome Yvan Mendy, but the experienced Frenchman stunned Britain’s 2012 Olympic Gold medallist, downing him in the fifth round for the first time in his career before claiming a split decision.

Joshua devastatingly ends heavyweight feud with Whyte

O2 Arena Boxing

Anthony Joshua put an end to his feud with bitter rival Dillian Whyte at a sell-out O2 Arena in London on Saturday night, coming through the longest bout of his professional career to date to eventually stop his Jamaican-born foe in the seventh round. The pair continued to clash even after the bell had signalled the end of the first round, but Joshua ultimately earned his 15th consecutive knockout triumph on home soil.

Weidman suffers shock Rockhold demolition

UFC 194 Mixed Martial Arts

Dominant UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered the same fate as Aldo on Sunday morning in Las Vegas, as he was emphatically taken apart by challenger Luke Rockhold, with the latter storming to an incredible stoppage victory in the co-main event.

McGregor ends Aldo’s dominant reign in 13 seconds at UFC194

UFC 194 Mixed Martial Arts

Conor McGregor once again predicted the right outcome of his long-awaited featherweight bout with long-standing champion Jose Aldo, as the Irishman sensationally stopped his Brazilian opponent in just 13 seconds to become the division’s undisputed champion at UFC194. After months of build-up, all it took was one deadly left hand to secure the fastest ending to a UFC title fight in history.

Master Wenger gives apprentice Garde a lesson

Britain Soccer Premier League

Arsenal climbed to the Premier League summit with a comfortable 2-0 win at Aston Villa. Arsene Wenger named the same Gunners XI that beat Olympiakos so impressively in midweek, and those same players were more than enough to take the Londoners past the manager’s protege Remi Garde.

With the latest Star Wars movie out this week, Wenger’s expression seems to say: “You have much to learn my young Padawan”!

Impact subs Mitrovic and Perez give Magpies last-gasp win at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United - Barclays Premier League - White Hart Lane

Steve McClaren made a couple of inspired substitutions that allowed Newcastle United to turnaround Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored an equaliser less than two minutes after coming on and then assisted Ayoze Perez in grabbing a dramatic stoppage time winner.
