Coral’s rumour reel: West Brom to bag a forward?

Do you want Frei’s with that?

West Bromwich Albion, 7/1 with Coral to stay in the Premier League, are understood to be tracking a striker in January, and are subsequently prepared to table a bid for Besiktas’ Kerim Frei.

However, this is only if they miss out on QPR’s Matt Philips, who would have arrived at The Hawthorns in the summer had Saido Berahino’s move to Spurs not fallen through.

With Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s recent arrival at Loftus Road though, the Scotland international may not be as willing to leave west London, and may instead opt to help QPR’s Championship promotion push. Therefore, should a £7m bid fail, the Baggies could turn their attention to Frei, formerly of Fulham, with Newcastle and Norwich also showing interest.

Time to trade Townsend

Reports have surfaced that Tottenham winger Andros Townsend could be set to leave the club with Spurs ready to cash in on the 24-year-old who has not started a league match all season.

Newcastle, as well as West Brom have thrown their hat into the ring to secure the player’s signature in January and if a deal between the clubs can be struck, Townsend is ready to leave, after being promised chances this term to boost his chances of being selected in England’s Euro 2016 squad.

Real deal?

Switching to La Liga, Los Blancos are believed to have identified Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez as the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo should the Portuguese forward leave the club, with reports indicating that the 30-year-old wants a move back to old club Manchester United.

Should Sanchez switch to the Bernabeu, the move would be somewhat contentious, with the Chilean having previously played for fierce rivals Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are keen on a part-exchange deal involving Eden Hazard and James Rodriguez with the Blues apparently losing patience with the Belgian forward who has looked disillusioned at Stamford Bridge this season.
