Blues to bid for Vardy

Chelsea, 9/4 with Coral for a top six finish this season are reportedly tracking Jamie Vardy in the January transfer window.

Guus Hiddink, who is reportedly being lined up to replace Jose Mourinho at least on a temporary basis, is thought to have told the club he wants them to sign an English striker in January with Vardy and also Saido Berahino on his list.

Leicester, meanwhile are unlikely to want to sell their prized asset who has fired them to the top of the Premier League this season and will fight to keep him.

Wenger gunning for Hernandez

Arsenal are understood to be monitoring Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez who only moved to the Bundesliga club in January from Manchester United.

The Gunners have a number of injury problems currently with Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez struggling with fitness and Olivier Giroud the only fit centre forward.

Adding the Mexican to their attack will give Wenger a different option and increase their chances of winning the Premier League over the second half of what is likely to be a gruelling season.

Any fee would likely be north of £12m for Hernandez, though Arsenal have almost infinitely deep pockets and this shouldn’t be a problem.

Rodriguez a Red Devil?

Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal is thought to want to bring James Rodriguez to Old Trafford in a bid to add more spark to a waning attack.

The Real Madrid attacker is thought to be one of a number of players frustrated with current coach Rafa Benitez this season and could well be tempted to make a move if United made a bid.

It was thought that the club have set aside a vast sum to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back, though it seems Colombian Rodriguez is Van Gaal’s preferred option.
