Coral’s boss watch: Mourinho and Van Gaal must be on their Garde

Despite securing top spot in Chelsea’s Champions League group and a seeding for the knockout phase, Jose Mourinho once again heads the betting in the next Premier League manager to go market with Coral.

Rival Ranieri could turn up the heat on Mourinho

Ahead of Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football clash at Leicester City, Blues boss Mourinho briefly went 2/1 favourite to vacate the Stamford Bridge hotseat, but is now back at 5/2. Should Chelsea lose to Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes at the King Power Stadium, pressure will inevitably intensify on ‘the Special One’.

Victories for Bournemouth and Newcastle United over the weekend have moved both teams above the reigning Premier League champions. It’s still difficult to believe the Blues are just one point off the relegation zone.

Elsewhere in the sack race, Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren has bought himself even more time as the travelling Toon Army and owner Mike Ashley witnessed a last-gasp win over Spurs at White Hart Lane. Briefly 13/8 favourite, the odds for McClaren going next have eased to 3/1 and now 7/1.

LVG must look out, Garde honeymoon over

Defeat at Dean Court, despite being without an entire first-choice back four, has not done Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal any favours, and that is reflected in the betting.

Red Devils fans are becoming disgruntled – by his messages about the inconvenient truth of changed times at Old Trafford, performances and results. That all adds up to Van Gaal being shortened from 5/1 into 7/2, and now slashed to an even-money favourite to be on his way next.

Aston Villa head coach Remi Garde, without a win in all five of his fixtures in charge, has also seen his odds undergo a significant change after Arsenal eased to a 2-0 victory in the West Midlands.

Previously a 16/1 shot to leave next before mentor Arsene Wenger turned his team over, Garde must now be wary after shortening substantially to 10/1.
