Consistency key for Leeds to ensure January funds

Leeds United are unbeaten in two matches and Steve Evans has identified the Christmas period to pick up enough points to mount a credible Championship promotion push in the latter half of the season, starting with their trip to Wolves.

Evans’ side are 10/3 with Coral to come away from the West Midlands with three points, which will set them up nicely for festive fixtures, and will give the manager an opportunity to build a case to ask for funds for the January transfer window.

“We’re set up for a massive Christmas now,” Evans said. “I’ve been told by the owner, and I genuinely believe him, that if we give him a problem in January by getting to a position where we can properly look up, he’s ready to support me in every way possible.

“I have to be realistic and say that an owner’s not going to throw money at [this season] in the hope of finishing 12th rather than 15th and I’ve always got a duty to invest sensibly but the motivation above me is there if we can get on a run and get ourselves up the league.”

However, their current job in hand is to beat the next team in front of them. Having lost 4-3 in this fixture last season, the Whites will be looking to rectify this.

Alex Mowatt, who has been responsible for a number of wonder goals this term, struck in similar fashion during that match and is good value at 10/3 in the anytime market.

Leeds attack can trouble Wolves

Lately, Leeds’ new summer signing Chris Wood has started to show signs of his true potential, having dispatched in the 2-1 win over Hull last time out at Elland Road.

At 15/8 to score in the anytime market, he is decent value, while Mirko Antenucci, who has also struck vital goals this term is ideal value at 13/2 to break the deadlock.

Youngster Jordan Botaka has been given chances to impress under Evans and is showing good progress. At 11/4 in the anytime market, he could take the hosts by surprise.

Good Wolves hunting

The home side are unbeaten in five matches and have begun to show promotion form. In the club’s previous win, Danny Batth scored the vital goal and it was the 25-year-old who dispatched in this fixture last term. Batth is 9/1 to strike anytime.

Last time out, Ethan Ebanks-Landell got the opener in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest and is priced at 33/1 to break the deadlock once more.
