Players to rally in Mourinho’s absence

Chelsea travel to Stoke for the Saturday Night Football Premier League kick-off and, following their Champions League win last time out, will be encouraged that they can pick up three points in Staffordshire.

However, with Jose Mourinho banned from the touchline for the match, the Blues, who are 21/20 with Coral for the win, have vowed to do all they can in his absence.

It is Nemanja Matic, in particular, who is leading this show of support, with the Serbian admitting that it will be difficult without him on the bench. “Of course it is more easy when the coach is on the bench and especially at half-time, when he can say something. But we also have other great coaches, and they will be prepared for everything, and we have to be ready for that,” said Matic.

“It’s going to be strange, of course. I think that I’m here almost two years and we have not played without a coach yet, so it is going to be strange, but this is football and we will be ready,” Matic continued.

“Sometimes when the game stops and there is a foul, he shows with the hands and you know what you have to do. You can’t really hear him because there are 40,000 people here, and it’s difficult. Sometimes you hear him, and especially if you play on his side of the pitch.”

The Serbian midfielder struck a wonder goal on a tough visit to Everton earlier in the season, with Chelsea on the end of a 3-1 defeat and is a novel 9/1 anytime price to score again.

Wily Willian and rampant Remy both have reasons to believe

Blues duo Willian and Loic Remy can be hopeful against Stoke and for completely different reasons. The French striker has scored the last goal in each of the last two fixtures between the teams and is 6/1 to net last once more.

Meanwhile, Willian has been in a rich vein of form lately, striking a glorious free-kick last time out, which turned out to be the winner against Dynamo Kiev. The Brazilian, who has also scored against the Poters before, is a tasty 10/3 in the anytime market, with the 27-year-old having found the net five times this campaign.

Stoke still stern test

It was a spirited performance in the Capital One Cup victory by the Potters over Chelsea, a match Mark Hughes’ side won on penalties.

Jonathan Walters put his side ahead before Remy equalised and proved to be a menace throughout, constantly hassling the Blues backline. He is 2/1 in the anytime market, to find a way past former Potters keeper Asmir Begovic, while prior to that, Bojan Krkic and Marko Arnautovic were the last to score for Stoke.

The duo are 11/4 and 10/3 respectively in the anytime market, while Peter Crouch has enough about him to give the Chelsea defence something to think about and is available at 7/1 to open the scoring.
