Record-breaker Vardy costs Coral over 50k

Jamie Vardy’s goal this evening, which has put the Leicester forward into the history books for scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League games, has cost bookmaker Coral just over £50k. Vardy was very popular with the firm who were offering 2-1 in their anytime scorer market against Manchester United, while the record holder was also strongly backed at 9-2 to get the opening goal in the game at Old Trafford.

Coral is now offering 11-10 that Vardy extends his goalscoring record when his side faces Swansea in their next Premier League game. Vardy is 1-2 to score 20 Premier League goals or more this season, 16-1 to bag 30 in the campaign and 4-1 to be the Player of the Season.

“It’s an incredible achievement from Jamie Vardy but one which has proved very costly for the bookmakers. We saw so much interest in the Leicester striker in our anytime goalscorer market at odds of 2/1, while some punters took a chance by backing Vardy to be the first goalscorer in the game, all in all, costing us over 50k in those markets alone,” said Coral’s John Hill.
