North London derby swapsies: 3 is magic number for Arsenal and Spurs

As another north London derby approaches, Coral bring readers one of our special features. Here we decide which three players from both clubs that would get into the other’s team as automatic selections.

Having beaten their fierce rivals already this season in the Capital One Cup, Arsenal are odds-on favourites at 4/6 with Coral for the win and, currently joint-top of the Premier League, will be looking to keep up their impressive recent run.

Let’s take a look at which three players from the Gunners would make it into the Spurs starting lineup.

Alexis Sanchez

Simply has to be in. When at the top of his game, the Chilean is unstoppable and would slot straight into the Spurs side on the left, with Christian Eriksen alongside him. He is also just as effective in front of goal as supplying assists.

Santi Cazorla

Spurs have missed someone who can sit and dictate play since Luka Modric’s sale to Real Madrid and after Arsene Wenger moved him into a deeper role, he has been a revelation. They could do with someone in this mould at White Hart Lane this season.

Hector Bellerin

There is no doubt that Arsenal’s right back is considerably better than Kyle Walker and as a result of this, he would slot straight into Mauricio Pochettino’s side, whose defence actually looks better this term.

Harry Kane

With the Gunners’ supply line, it could potentially be argued that Arsenal might be outright leaders of the Premier League if they had Harry Kane in front of them this term. A better, more mobile version of Olivier Giroud, there is no doubt that Kane could do a job for the Gunners.

Toby Alderweireld

Was outstanding while on loan at Southampton last season and is an upgrade on Gabriel Paulista who has been preferred in the heart of defence recently for Arsenal. It must mystify Gunners fans as to why Wenger didn’t attempt to sign the Belgian in the summer transfer market.

Jan Vertonghen

Perhaps a ‘get out of jail’ choice, though Alderweireld’s compatriot has been a consistent performer for Spurs since he signed for the club. If Arsenal had this pairing, there is no doubt that their early season stumble would not have happened.
