Foxes hunting Ajax marksman Milik

Having enjoyed a sensational start to their Premier League campaign under Claudio Ranieri, high-flying Leicester City have been linked with potentially snapping up Ajax ace Arkadiusz Milik, with the Poland international rated at £10m.

Milik has been a sensation in the Eredivisie, with Spanish giants Barcelona having also reportedly kept tabs on the 21-year-old Pole, after netting 17 times in 32 outings while on loan at Ajax from former employers Bayer Leverkusen last campaign.

Since making his switch to Amsterdam permanent this summer, Milik has gone on to strike six goals in 15 appearances so far this term, and has caught the eye of Ranieri’s top-flight Foxes, who are 7/2 with Coral for a top six finish.

Lewandowski partnership

Their reported Polish attacking target has also made an impact on the international stage, regularly partnering Bayern Munich’s deadly marksman Robert Lewandowski up front and helping his country earn a spot at Euro 2016 for next summer.

In their successful attempts to reach France, Milik combined with Lewandowski for an impressive strike partnership, contributing six goals and the same number of assists combined, which was the highest in qualifying, to secure second-place in Group D.

Despite having only joined Frank de Boer’s side this summer, Milik’s sublime start has seen his value rocket due to exploits for club and country, with Leicester possibly having to fork out a substantial amount more than the £2m Ajax paid for his services this year.

Pricey Premier League move

However, a £10m price tag has still not thwarted the interest by the Premier League outfit, as they seek to bolster their ranks after incredibly reaching third position in the top tier table, just three points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Milik was reportedly once very close to agreeing a switch to Leicester’s domestic rivals Tottenham at the age of 16, in a move that would have cost a mere £100k, but the Londoners turned down such a transfer, claiming they had enough young talent in their ranks.

Milik replacement for Vardy?

The speculation surrounding the prolific Pole comes after reports Ranieri could actually lose his current star men Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, with both Foxes forwards having been key to the club’s meteoric rise up the table this season.

Vardy became one of only three ever players to score in nine successive Premier League games this term, rallying to the top of the scoring charts with his superb rise to prominence, while Mahrez has been majestically dictating games from his desired creative role.

The latter was recently linked to Manchester United, as Louis van Gaal potentially seeks further reinforcements for a hopeful title bid this term, while Vardy has fired himself into the mix for a possible big-money move elsewhere, having also made his England bow this year.

This former Non-League hitman could end up featuring for Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions next summer, no matter what club colours he will be donning, with England 12/1 to clinch European glory in France.
