Five great goals from classic modern-era Juventus v AC Milan games
It’s that time in the Serie A season again, as Italian giants Juventus host rivals AC Milan in Turin. While this marvellous match-up may not have quite the bite of a Derby d’Italia or the drama of a Derby della Madonnina, it has brought fans plenty of fireworks over the years.
With that in mind, Coral writers dug through the dusty archives to find five fantastic goals from modern-era matches between the Old Lady (8/15 with Coral to win the upcoming clash) and Rossoneri (13/2 for victory), two of Serie A’s most decorated teams.

Graziano Mannari, 1988
We have a truly fantastic team goal here to kick-off, as a vintage Milan team comprised of Carlo Ancelotti, Marco van Basten, Roberto Donadoni and Frank Rijkaard tormented and toyed with Juve, who could not get close to the possession-keeping and patient pass-masters.
Much sublime one-touch passing was showcased before academy graduate Mannari finally rippled the net with a brilliant bullet header.

Andrea Pirlo, 2013
Of course former Milan and Juventus midfield dictator Pirlo had to feature here at some point. Having been memorably shipped off by the Rossoneri, Pirlo was always going to make his former employers pay.
He does so here in front of Old Lady fans in fantastic, and classy, fashion. See what happens as Pirlo steps up to take a set-piece just outside Milan’s area, using his lethal right peg to curl an unstoppable free-kick over the Rossoneri wall.
Maxi Lopez, 2012
Now plying his trade for Torino, Argentine attacker Lopez was once on loan with the Rossoneri for 11 games, and justified his fee with this Coppa Italia cracker alone.
Watch below as the striker latches on to a Clarence Seedorf pass while holding off the Juve defence, before using his tricky feet on the edge of the area to evade capture and finally unleash a rocket into the top right-hand corner.
Ronaldinho, 2010
There are few things better in football than watching a relaxed Ronaldinho in action, and the Brazilian superstar lived up to his billing here in this Tim Cup tussle.
Take a peek at how the playmaker pings a ball across pitch to craft his own opening, before collecting the return with terrific technique, cutting in from wide to lash the ball in brilliantly from a tight angle.
Andriy Shevchenko, 2001
Perhaps the pick of the bunch for last, Shevchenko’s spectacular outside-the-box strike is truly something to behold. The magnificent Milan marksman sent fans into raptures by carrying the ball from midfield, making Juventus’ defence dizzy in the process, before drifting just wide of the area and smashing his shot with both power and precision into the top-left corner of the net. What a talent.
