Fury challenges Klitschko for heavyweight titles
After months of anticipation, and an initial rescheduling, Tyson Fury will finally contest dominant Ukrainian world champion Wladimir Klitschko for his heavyweight titles in Germany, where the undefeated challenger is hoping to dethrone the long-standing division kingpin.
Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) will put months of talking and entertaining behind him, as he enters the Espirit Arena ring in Dusseldorf aiming to successfully complete the toughest task in heavyweight boxing; overcoming supreme WBA, IBF and WBO title holder Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs).
Fury confident of becoming champion
On German soil, Fury is 11/2 with Coral to stop the world champion prematurely, having been constantly declaring that he will be having his hand held highest after their highly-awaited encounter, despite Klitschko having gone unbeaten for over a decade.
“You can expect to see the new heavyweight champion and how a young champion should perform against an old one,” declared Fury.
“I know 99.9 per cent expect to see me lose to the great Wladimir Klitschko. I know from looking at him he’s got doubts, he’s very worried and his trainer is worried.
“That’s what I love to see. I thrive off it. I thrive off the energy, off the people off the night.
“On Saturday night the whole world is going to celebrate with me as I achieve my goal and become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.”
Antics affecting Klitschko?
The Manchester fighter has happily been the centre of attention in the build-up to this heavyweight blockbuster, previously dressing up as Batman and wrestling a friend dressed as the Joker in a bizarre press conference, before recently singing his version of ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ at an open workout.
Although, the stern, less charismatic champion has continued to laugh off such behaviour, maintaining his composed nature during the calm before this title showdown storm. Klitschko is 2/1 to rally to secure a signature points decision triumph in Germany, having previously dispatched recently returning Briton David Haye over 12 rounds in 2011.
Talking is over
The Ukrainian, evens for a knockout triumph, pulled out of the duo’s originally scheduled bout on October 24th, but his confident opponent is raring to go and gunning for a sensational victory against all the odds.
“I feel fantastic, I’m relaxed, I’m in the best shape. I’m a fighting man and this is a fighting sport,” continued Fury, who is 8/1 for a points win.
“Wlad will try to knock me out early in two or maybe three rounds. Don’t be surprised if Wladimir comes out and tries to put it on me early like he has never done before. I’m feeling on top of the world, it is time for me to shine.”
In arguably the most awaited boxing match-up since Floyd Mayweather collided with Manny Pacquiao earlier this year, Fury will seek to finally dethrone the division’s dominant champion, while Klitschko aims to overcome another cocky foe and continue his reign as heavyweight king.
