Messi to make move to Premier League?

Manchester City, 11/10 with Coral to win the Premier League, could be about to make an audacious move for Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi, with the Argentinian attacker having held talks over an £800k per week deal.

The 28-year-old has scored 289 goals in 322 Barcelona appearances while at the club and should he move to the Premier League, he would link up with compatriots Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Otamendi, Martin Demichelis, Willy Caballero and City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

He could link up though with former Barca boss Pep Guardiola, should City also move for the Spaniard who was arguably the one to get the best out of Messi while at the Catalan club. It would certainly be interesting to see the impact that the player would make, with the possibility of him linking up with Aguero an exciting prospect.

Blues battle for Premier League trio

Struggling Chelsea are reportedly ready to spend £40m in January with the English top-flight’s leading goal-scorer Jamie Vardy plus Tottenham’s seemingly rejuvenated midfielder Mousa Dembele on their radar, as they bid to strengthen their squad for a top four Premier League finish with Liverpool, Man City, Manchester United and a number of other clubs all vying for the same.

Jose Mourinho believes that the Belgian could be the man to freshen up what has looked like a stale midfield this season and add the dynamism that is so sorely needed. Spurs though, are set to open talks with Dembele whose contract expires in 18 months. Vardy is an interesting one.

Chelsea are understood to be impressed with the forward’s work rate, though are assessing whether he could cope with the pressures of playing in a star-studded squad.

However, the Blues have struggled for goals this term and Vardy could be the solution. Another potential is Spurs’ Harry Kane, with the west London club also said to be interested, though Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is expected to dig his heels in.

Ayew serious?

Having only signed for Swansea in the summer, Ghana attacker Andre Ayew has suggested that he could make a move to a top four club in January, with Liverpool said to be interested in the 25-year-old.

With six goals in 14 appearances across all competitions this term, the former Marseille man has hit the ground running and could well have a number of clubs chasing his signature in January, with Manchester United also keen on bringing a winger in, during the winter window.
