Blues bounce back needed for Dynamo duel
Following their 3-1 loss to Liverpool last time out, the west London outfit are still odds-on at 3/4 with Coral to beat Dynamo Kiev. However, the reverse game in the Ukraine resulted in a goalless stalemate, leaving little to the imagination.
Centre forward Diego Costa will be hoping he can get back among the goals and can take heart from Vincent Aboubakar’s brace against Dynamo for Porto, so he knows that their rearguard is breachable. The Brazilian-born Spain striker is already off the mark in the Champions League and scored in the Blues’ last home European match; a 4-0 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv. He is 10/3 to break the deadlock.
Willian, Oscar and Cesc Fabregas also dispatched in that game and are 2/1, 11/4 and 7/2 respectively in the anytime market. The latter has spoken recently denying reports that he is behind a ‘players’ revolt’ at the club after a run of bad results.
“I would like to clarify that contrary to a few reports from some websites, I am extremely happy at Chelsea and have an excellent relationship with the manager,” Fabregas revealed on Twitter ahead of the match.
Mourinho’s “must-win” match
Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, has conceded that this clash is one that he needs to win: “In May 2004, after [Porto’s win in] the Champions League final I said in the press conference that one day in my career bad results will come. I said that I would deal with that period with the honesty and dignity that I did at the time. It took time but now we are in that time and I am stable and strong to face it.
“I am completely convinced that we are going to qualify first. But the reality is the game tomorrow is not a game we have to win. It’s a must-not-lose but not a must-win.”
Dynamo domestic dominance can stand them in good stead
The visitors to Stamford Bridge go into this match in fantastic form, having only lost twice this season. They have also fared well in the Champions League, taking five points from their first three matches, with Andriy Yarmolenko and Junior Moraes among the goals. The duo are 10/3 and 11/4 respectively in the anytime market, with the latter scoring in a 2-0 victory over Metalist last time out.
