Holly Thackeray | November 10, 2015
Coral’s bet of the day
- Van Gerwen, Lewis, Chisnall and Wright all odds-on to win their final group matches individually
- All four PDC stars were automatic qualifiers for this competition
- Mighty Mike has conceded just one leg in 11
- Chizzy faces eliminated Scott Mitchell fresh from scoring a nine-darter
Michael van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis, Dave Chisnall and Peter Wright all to win
The final group games of the Grand Slam of Darts are upon us and Coral are offering four fantastic favourites in Michael van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis, Dave Chisnall and Peter Wright at 13/8 all to win their last matches. As this featured four are all heavily odds-on to win their respective outings, this cracking acca is of course our bet of the day.
Mighty Mike a menace so far
Deadly Dutch dartsman Van Gerwen is understandably the favourite to claim this crown and has only lived up to the tag of tormentor so far, losing just one leg of 11.
With a perfect four points from two victories on the board already, Mighty Mike smashed Kim Huybrechts 5-1 in an imperious and dominant display last time out, after emphatically whitewashing Mark Oosterhuis in his opener.
In such vicious form, world number one Van Gerwen next faces Steve West, ranked just 78th in the world by comparison, and the Englishman has never defeated Mighty Mike in four attempts. So, we fancy another thrashing could be on the cards.
Lewis looking for victory
Two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist Lewis has beaten upcoming opponent Wayne Jones 12 times in 20 tries, a feat Jackpot is 1/6 to repeat here. The Wolverhampton-born The Wanderer’s cause is not helped by being rock bottom of Group C, having lost 10 legs in two successive 5-3 drubbings. Lethal Lewis is lurking and will expect to take advantage.
Chizzy a perfect nine
Chisnall has already secured safe passage to the second round, having hit a spectacular nine-darter last time out to thrill fans. Set to excel on the oche again, with only already eliminated Scott Mitchell left to face, Chizzy can leave spectators dizzy once more by continuing his 100 per cent record.
Snakebite on the attack
Wright will be up for a fight and, as his nickname of Snakebite suggests, the Scot is never more dangerous than when seeking safety.
Having been in fantastic form this calendar year, Snakebite is a real shout to claim this crown, and has beaten next opponent Mervyn King in four of their last five frays, so should come out tops yet again.
