Coral’s Bet Of The Day features Maidenhead United to beat Port Vale 1-0 in their FA Cup replay with James Mulley to again find the net at a whopping 130/1.
Magical Maidenhead
It took a 94th minute equaliser from Maidenhead against Port Vale last time out, to force this first round FA Cup match to a replay. It was a hardworking and energetic performance from the visitors who made the trip from Somerset to Staffordshire. Going into the match, the Vale were 62 places higher than Maidenhead in the football league, however, this made no difference.
James Mulley was a second half substitute against Vale and immediately made a nuisance of himself. At 27 he is one of the older players in the squad and having played for a number of lower league clubs throughout his career, including AFC Wimbledon, his experience could once again prove vital. Crucially, as he showed at Vale Park, he also has an eye for goal.
Devonshire delight
Boss Alan Devonshire was quick to praise his players following the final whistle after the first match and he will be looking for more of the same next time out: “We got what we deserved and I can’t praise the lads highly enough,” he said.
“We’ve got a young, part-time side, but their spirit and character is unbelievable. They kept going right to the end and got their just desserts.
“Vale were trying to keep the ball in the corners in the last 15 to 20 minutes and that showed how well our lads were playing. I’m not singling anyone out because every one of them was fantastic. Football fans aren’t stupid and we appreciated the reception we got from the Vale supporters at the end. It was a nice gesture and of course well deserved.”
Devonshire won the FA Cup with West Ham United as a player in 1980 his experience will be something that can greatly benefit his squad.
