Windsor preview: Dubawi Light weighted to shine

Trainer Gary Moore has his team in good form and Dubawi Light can take advantage of a drop in the weights to provide him with another winner in the 1m handicap on today’s card at Windsor (17.30).

The gelding opened his account at the second time of asking when in the care of James Tate and landing a class 5 maiden over 1m at Lingfield by a length from Bobby Benton back in February 2014.

Dubawi Light only had to be shaken-up to score with more in hand than the winning margin suggests, and the runner-up Bobby Benton has gone on to score twice since and is now rated 67. The third home Warbrook is rated 75, and the form reads well in the contest of this contest.

Dubawi Light was allotted an opening handicap of 75 on the back of that success but failed to sparkle in two subsequent outings in a class 4 contest at Leicester and a class 5 affair at Redcar. The four-year-old has since been on the sidelines for 519 days, and is now able to race in this low-grade class 6 contest off just 65 on his first start for Moore.

That gives the son of Dubawi major claims from a handicapping perspective if the switch of stables has the desired effect.

The booking of George Baker to do the steering also suggests a big run is expected, as he has a healthy strike rate of just over 18.5% when teaming up with the yard.

Easy Tiger caught the eye last time out and looks the answer to the 6f handicap (15.55) now eased in grade.
The Bill Muir trained gelding is a three-time winner over 7f who ran really well on his first try over this afternoon’s trip when when sixth of 13 to The Tin Man in a class 2 contest at Ascot.

Easy Tiger showed plenty of pace to chase the leaders in the main group, and after getting slightly outpaced a furlong from home kept on again to be beaten seven lengths.

The three-year-old has some useful performers in behind, and the winner is a rapidly improving sort who has since gone on to finish a cracking fourth to Muhaarar in the Group 1 Champions Sprint.

That gives the form a solid look, and given that Easy Tiger had to run from out of the handicap it was a fine effort.

Son of Refuse To Bend is now able to race off his correct mark of 78, and that makes Easy Tiger a major player now dropped down into class 4 company.
