Momentum key for Wenger’s men
For the Gunners, the international break perhaps came at the wrong time. After recording a resounding 3-0 win over Manchester United at the Emirates, Arsene Wenger barely had time to build on this in training before his players took flight.
However, the club’s odds-on 8/13 price with Coral to beat Watford, on balance, seem more than justified on current form. Arsenal have an unblemished history against their Hertfordshire opponents in the Premier League, with four wins and an FA Cup victory sandwiched in between, though the last time the clubs met was in the 2006/07 campaign.
It was a decidedly marked improvement last time out against the Red Devils and Mesut Ozil was at his world class best as he dispatched a great strike, and as a result, the German string-puller is a great price at 2/1 in the anytime market.
Wenger must choose from either Theo Walcott or Olivier Giroud to play in the lone striker role, with the former dispatching for England against Estonia. He is 4/1 to break the deadlock at Vicarage Road and will see this as a match where he can get into a number of scoring positions.
Picking up where they left off though, will be the key for the Gunners, who know that if both Manchester City and Manchester United slip up, they could be top after this round of Premier League games.
Will Sanchez play for Arsenal against Watford?
Wenger is going to closely assess the situation with star attacker Alexis Sanchez, who featured in both of Chile’s matches while on international duty, despite picking up a hip injury against Man Utd.
Having bagged a brilliant brace in that match and a hat-trick against Leicester City in the game before, he is 5/1 to net two or more against the Hornets, if declared fit enough to play.
Striker Ighalo key for Watford
If the hosts are going to take three points from this match, they need form forward Odion Ighalo to continue his fine form. With four goals from his last four games in the English top flight, he is one of the form players in the Premier League and well priced at 2/1 in the anytime market.
Attack partner Troy Deeney is also a natural goalscorer and is 11/4 to score during the match. The Hornets have already scalped Newcastle and Swansea this season and Arsenal have to approach this match with caution if they are going to emerge with three points.
