Cirrus Des Aigles can take advantage of a drop in class to land the Group 2 Prix Dollar at Longchamp and further enhance his incredible record in the 1m 1f contest (15.15).

The Corine Barande-Barbe trained gelding won the race in 2010, 2012 and 2013 before controversially losing last year’s renewal in the stewards’ room after beating Fractional by 1 3/4 lengths.

After then disappointing at Ascot, Cirrus Des Aigles finished a fine fourth in the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin and looked as good as ever despite his advancing years when making a winning seasonal reappearance in the Group 1 Prix Ganay at Longchamp.

The nine-year-old found plenty when challenged inside the last to readily beat Al Khazeem by 1 3/4 lengths, and that form reads extremely well in the context of this contest.

Although Cirrus has failed to sparkle in two subsequent outings, they have both been in very competitive Group 1 affairs and this is much easier.

The son of Even Top is a true legend in the sport who has won 22 of his 64 starts, including seven Group 1 contests, and this looks a great opportunity for Cirrus Des Aigles to bag another raise roofing success for his legion of fans.

Epsom Friday

French Navy is the obvious danger in a race which looks a match on paper.

The Charlie Appleby trained colt has a terrific strike rate having won 11 of his 22 starts.

French Navy comes into the contest on the back of four straight successes, and was particular impressive in the last of those when beating Arod by 3/4 of a length in the Group 3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket.

The seven-year-old was give a confident hold-up ride by William Buick, and showed a nice turn of foot inside the final furlong to put the race to bed and score with more in hand than the winning margin suggests.

This requires more, but French Navy is clearly thriving and looks sure give Cirrus Des Aigles plenty to think about.
