Coming up in this week’s eventful Racing Post podcast, aptly named ‘Postcast‘, sponsored by Coral, host Sam Lawrie is joined by Alistair Down, Dave Orton and our very own David Stevens to reflect on the riveting Racing Post Trophy and all the action for the upcoming weekend.

Magical Marcel

Marcel’s magnificence at Doncaster tops the show, as the panel dig deeper into the win by the 33/1 shot ridden by jockey Andrea Atzeni in the final Group One of the flat season.

The Peter Chapple-Hyam (three-times winner in this race) trained horse took the glory ahead of unbeaten, overwhelming odds-on favourite Foundation, saddled by champion jockey Frankie Dettori and Lawrie and company discuss how this marvellous horse got boxed in, being only allowed to finish third.

Upcoming delights

Also touching on potential outside bets for next year’s Ascot Gold Cup, tune in to find out who Down picks as a tip to look out for. Recommended prices are also available for the Gold Cup at Prestbury Park next month, previewing all of the aesthetic renovations to make it a more enjoyable experience for racegoers, including contact-less card payments for drinks, while Boondooma, Sound Investment and Apache Stronghold are also tipped to fare well on the track!

BOONDOOMA with Will Kennedy wins Novice Chase at Haydock 20-12-14.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the panel discuss the much-anticipated Breeders Cup in Keeneland across the pond with a number of horses fancied, including Golden Horn and American Pharoah and the chances that each horse has on what is expected to be a wet and tight track, while a top outsider is also fancied. Listen closely to find out!
