Golden Horn cut for Breeders’ Cup Turf despite ground concerns

| 27.10.2015

Punter confidence in Golden Horn winning Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Turf remained high today, despite concerns being voiced about the possibility of soft ground, with Coral reporting significant support for the odds-on favourite forcing them to cut his odds again to 1/2 from 4/7.

“Golden Horn continues to be the best backed horse at this year’s Breeders’ Cup bar none, and punters are showing no signs of being put off either by his prohibitive odds or the possibility of softish ground on Saturday. He is being backed as if defeat is out of the question,”  said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“With more rain forecast tomorrow nobody here seems sure what the going on the turf track will be come Saturday but Golden Horn appears so superior to his opposition that punters aren’t remotely concerned”, said Clare.

Coral is betting on how many European trained winners there will be at this year’s meeting and make three winners the 13/8 favourite, with four winners next best at 9/4.

“On paper this looks one of the strongest European challenges ever assembled for the Breeders’ Cup and the fact that five or more winners is priced as short as 6/1 is evidence of that strength and depth,” added Clare.

The other main market moves today with Coral saw Alice Springs shorten to 10/3 favourite from 7/2 for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and Judy The Beauty, ridden by Frankie Dettori, cut to 5/1 co-favourite from 6/1.
