Foundation opens up 6-4 favourite for Racing Post Trophy

Foundation has opened up the 6-4 favourite with leading bookmaker Coral to win the Group One Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on Saturday. Aidan O’Brien, who has won this contest seven times, leaves four in the race, with Deauville being the shortest price of his runners at 11-4, while Johannes Vermeer, also saddled by the Irishman, is 6-1.

Coral is already betting on the 2016 Flat jockeys’ championship where they make Silvestre De Sousa 6-4 to defend his title. Ryan Moore edges favouritism at 11-8 and William Buick can be backed at 6-1.

“John Gosden has had a tremendous season so it would be no surprise to see him rack up another Group One success on Saturday where Foundation has opened up as the favourite to keep his unbeaten record,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Aidan O’Brien always has to be respected in the Racing Post Trophy and his best chance appears to be with Deauville who is the shortest price of his four runners left in at the five-day declaration stage,” added Hill.
