Hamilton not “taking anything for granted” in USA

F1 Grand Prix of USA

Lewis Hamilton goes into the USA Grand Prix as odds-on 4/9 favourite with Coral to emerge as winner, and knows that he could potentially finish the race as world champion.

A 10th win of the season will be enough to secure his third championship and tie with fellow Brit Sir Jackie Stewart, though German driver Sebastian Vettel must finish no higher than third. Having crossed the line in second behind Hamilton last time in Russia, the German is 8/1 to take the glory here.

Hamilton, though, maintains that he is keeping his feet on the ground: “I’ve learned from experience that nothing is ever done until it’s done in this sport, so I won’t be taking anything for granted going into the weekend.

“I’m going into this next race with the same approach I’ve had all year. There are four races left for me to get this championship tied up and as long as it’s done by the time I cross the line in Abu Dhabi that’s what really counts,” he continued.

“I’m excited to get out there, give my best and if I can come away with a third Stetson hat that would be unbelievable.”

Rosberg not giving up on title

Hamilton Rosberg
Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, however, has said he is not giving up without a fight, despite his retirement in Russia, all but ruling him out of the title race.

He is 5/2 to win the race and says he is still up for the fight. “With four races left and a big gap to Lewis, it’s clear that the title is a long shot for me now. But it’s not in me to give up or back down, so I’ll be pushing flat out to the end and hopefully having some fun out there in the final few rounds this year,” Rosberg said.

“I really want to enjoy the next races, as our Silver Arrow is such a great car and gives me the chance to end the year with a few more wins.”

Promising Perez poses podium potential

Having finished third in Sochi, Sergio Perez will be hoping he can add another podium finish next time out and is well worth a punt at 10/1 to achieve this in the States.

Meanwhile, Valterri Bottas has looked good in parts this season and could be worth a bet at 10/3 in the same market, with Australian Daniel Ricciardo a decent tip at 11/10 for a top six finish.
