Eredivisie leaders Ajax to utilise Amsterdam advantage against PSV
Dutch giants Ajax are once again leading the Eredivisie title race, and now have the chance to dent rivals and current champions PSV Eindhoven’s hopes of retaining the trophy in this Amsterdam encounter.
Already five clear of PSV in the standings, the Dutch capital club are 19/20 favourites from Coral to extend that gap again with a win. Unbeaten in the league so far this season, Frank de Boer’s boys can be backed at 13/5 to at the very least claim a point.
Playing host has previously proven to be important in this fixture, as Ajax have lost just once in the past seven scuffles against the Eindhoven outfit on their own turf.
There have been plenty of goal gluts in duels between the pair, with eight notched in the past two, so taking odds of 5/2 for De Boer’s side to win and both teams to score could be prudent. While, the Lancers are exceptional at 13/5 to be lethal and fire in three or more.
Dangerous Dane Viktor Fischer is Ajax’s most in-form forward after finding the net in four of his past five appearances. At still only 21, the Amsterdam academy-reared attacking asset is value to be on target first, or anytime.
Before Fischer found his shooting boots, it was guileful Anwar El Ghazi grabbing the headlines with fine individual performances. The Netherlands Under-21 international has seven strikes in as many Eredivisie outings, so is also a superb scorer shout, while Polish poacher Arkadiusz Milik completes a youthful but potent line-up.
Also strong in defence, with six clean sheets from seven in the Eredivisie, rumoured former Manchester United target Jasper Cillessen is 3/1 to help the home side win to nil.
Guests PSV’s hopes, after a rather inconsistent campaign so far, may rest on Ajax becoming unsettled should rumours linking boss De Boer to Liverpool intensify.
Of course, as champions, the Eindhoven outfit will not be easy prey, having won away in this fixture last season as they stormed to the Eredivisie title.
The Lightbulbs are 13/5 to turn their term around with a triumph, with Maxime Lestienne and Luciano Narsingh more than capable of causing problems for their hosts, should dangerman Luuk de Jong miss out through injury.
Betting tip: Ajax are fantastic at 13/5 to score three or more
