Sherwood and McClaren favourites to go
After yet another thrilling Premier League weekend, some managers have further enhanced their job security at clubs or at least eased the pressure off for now, while for others the clock is certainly ticking to get the boot.
Despite the campaign being only nine games old, since the start of the season we have already witnessed two boss departures, with Dick Advocaat leaving Sunderland and Brendan Rodgers being sacked by Liverpool.
Aston Villa coach Tim Sherwood’s position has now become the most under pressure, following a dreadful fifth straight league loss, and he is odds-on at 1/3 to be the next top flight manager to go with the club down in 19th on four points.
The Villans’ next few fixtures won’t be easy either, with matches against Swansea City (home), Southampton (away) in the Capital One Cup, Tottenham (away), Manchester City (home) and Everton (away) all to come.
Steve McClaren sits next in the next manager to leave market at 5/1, but his odds have lengthened after Newcastle United’s crushing 6-2 win over Norwich City on Sunday.
The Magpies have now leapfrogged two places after being bottom before the weekend, but are still two points from safety.
Mourinho and Koeman decent shouts to leave
Higher-profile names Jose Mourinho and Ronald Koeman, meanwhile, are much longer at 16/1 apiece in the same market, due to poor form and being linked with the Netherlands job respectively.
However, Chelsea are slowly rising back up the table after a 2-0 victory over Villa, while the Dutch FA have stated that current coach Danny Blind will carry on at the helm.
Don’t count out newly-promoted duo
It may be worth keeping an eye on newly-promoted clubs Watford and Norwich over the coming weeks, with their form slipping recently after failing to record a win in their last respetcive three and four games.
Hornets’ boss Quique Flores is a 20/1 chance while the Canaries’ Alex Neil is out at 40/1.
Managerial chances have not only been restricted to the Premier League this season, however, with Uwe Rosler recently becoming Massimo Cellino’s latest victim at Leeds United in the Championship. While, it is reported that Swindon Town chairman Lee Power will temporarily take over the reins after sacking Mark Cooper on Saturday.
