Super League: Warrington welcome Hull FC in Super 8s

Hull FC are 9/4 with Coral to beat a Warrington side who were humbled and nilled by Wigan Warriors last time out. Coach Lee Radford has said he will continue to field his youngsters until the end of the season, with the Airlie Birds having already secured a fourth place finish, regardless of the outcome against the Wolves.

In recent weeks, Radford has given chances to youngsters Brad Fash, Jack Downs and Jack Logan with the trio showing huge, future potential and priced at 5/1, 6/1 and 7/4 respectively to score anytime.

“The young lads are at a critical stage of their careers and I personally think it will be better for them and for us with next year in mind that they get that Super League experience,” Radford told local media.

“We want to whet their appetite and have them coming back in pre-season all guns blazing to have more of it. I’d love the Under-19s to win their competition and be as successful as they can, but the role of the 19s is to produce first-team players.”

“The young guys who have been selected have been in the squad on merit and they will continue to keep getting selected if they put their hands up with their performances,” Radford said.

Logan, who has come in at centre, has said he is enjoying his partnership with 27-year-old Australian Steve Michaels and is learning a lot from him.

“Me and [Steve] Michaels were just thrown together but we have clicked,” Logan revealed.

“We played in the win against Wakefield last month and we just clicked.

“We just bounce off each other and it seems to work. It is a surprising partnership. I didn’t particularly see me and [Steve] working well together because we are different players. I’m happy with Steve and he’s happy with me,” he continued.

“The more time we keep training together and talking, the better chance we have of developing a long-term partnership.”

Warrington have lost every Super 8 game this season, though will be hoping for a big improvement on the defeat to Wigan. Prior to that, they were agonisingly defeated 17-16 to Castleford, with Richie Myler crossing twice and Kevin Penny also picking up four points. The duo are 5/4 and 8/11 respectively anytime.
