Patriots, Colts Week 1 Favourites in NFL Betting at Coral

The 2015 NFL regular season kicks off on Thursday night with the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots playing host to Pittsburgh Steelers as 7.5-point favourites in NFL betting at Coral.

In the Patriots camp, their fans will be happy to turn their attention back to the gridiron following a controversy-laden off-season which included a four-game suspension of quarterback Tom Brady for his role in the Deflategate scandal, a suspension that was nullified just last week by a US District Court judge.

With Brady available, this gives a boost to the Patriots’ odds against Pittsburgh, which had stalled at a slim two points.

New England returns to action on a strong 13-2 SU run, but have covered the spread in just two of their last five outings. However, the Pats have dominated the Steelers in recent meetings, going 8-3 SU and ATS in their last 11.

Indianapolis Colts open their season on the road with a trip to Buffalo as 2.5-point favourites over the Bills.
Expectations run high in Indianapolis this season, where the Colts join the Pats as 4/1 co-favourites to claim the AFC crown, and strong 19/2 odds of winning their first Super Bowl in the post-Peyton Manning era.

The Bills hope to challenge New England in the AFC East following a 2014 campaign in which they recorded nine wins, but fell a game short of their first playoff berth since 1999.

Buffalo takes the field on Sunday riding a three-game SU and ATS winning streak at home, but are just 1-7 SU, 2-5-1 ATS, in their last eight against Indy, while the Colts are 5-1 SU, 4-2 ATS, in their last six as road favourites.

Meanwhile, Seattle Seahawks get their NFL season underway perched as 5/1 Super Bowl favourites in NFL outrights betting at Coral, but could have their hands full when they visit the St. Louis Rams on Sunday as four-point chalk.

The Seahawks are an impressive 17-3 SU, 13-7 ATS, in their last 20 overall against their NFC West division rivals, but it is the Rams that have had the upper hand in recent meetings between the two teams at the Edward Jones Dome, winning two of the last three SU, while claiming ATS victories in four of the last five.

This season’s premiere of Monday Night Football features a pair of matchups, with the Atlanta Falcons entertaining the new-look Philadelphia Eagles as 2.5-point home underdogs in the early game, while two-time NFL rushing leader Adrian Peterson returns to action for the first time since Week 1 of last season to lead the Minnesota Vikings as surging 2.5-point road favourites over the depleted San Francisco 49ers.

Jury has been out on whether the Eagles’ massive off-season overall will bear fruit. However, with Sam Bradford taking over from Nick Foles at pivot, and DeMarcus Murray replacing LeSean McCoy in the backfield, the Eagles have surged to 16/1 in Super Bowl betting at Coral, and are 6/5 favourites to finish atop the NFC East.

Vikings opened as 4.5-point underdogs against the Niners before rocketing to their current position as favourites. They face a 49ers squad whose defense was decimated by unexpected off-season retirements, including tackle Anthony Davis and linebacker Chris Borland, who ended his NFL career following a standout rookie campaign.

That will not make things easier for the 49ers, who are a dismal 1-4 SU in their last five, and winless ATS in their last six.
