Kempton preview: Super chance for Si Senor

Si Senor has a good record at Kempton, and can take advantage of a drop in class to further enhance it with victory in the 1m handicap on today’s card at the Sunbury-on-Thames venue (17.10).
The Ed Vaughan trained gelding is a three-time winner over course and distance, with the last of those coming in a class 4 contest off a mark of 79.
Although the margin of victory was just 3/4 of a length, Si Senor was value for much more as he won hard-held on the bridle and hardly had to break sweat.
The assessor hit the son of Dansili with an 8lb rise for that ultra-impressive victory, and Si Senor ran well of his revised rating of 88 when fifth of 18 in a class 2 contest over course and distance.
This four-year-old has since had just three starts this year, and caught the eye in the last of those when finishing a never nearer eighth of 16 to Georgian Bay in a valuable class 2 contest over course and distance when not getting the run of the race.
Si Senor should now be spot on to do himself justice, and has since been eased 2lb to a mark of 85. That gives him major claims on the pick of his form, especially now dropped down significantly into class 4 company.
In the 6f handicap (16.40), Acolyte can get back to winning ways now returned to his favoured artificial surface.
The Roger Charlton trained three-year-old is unbeaten in three runs on it, and two of those victories have come over course and distance.
Acolyte made all and held on well in the last of those, and went on to follow-up in good style at Wolverhampton off 6lb higher.
The son of Acclamation then ran slightly below par when attempting to land the hat-trick and finishing just fifth of 10 to Moonraker in a class 2 contest at Ascot last month.
However, that run came on the turf and Acolyte’s profile suggest he is a synthetics specialist.
If that is the case then a current mark of 93 should not be beyond Acolyte, and the drop back down into class 3 company is sure to suit.
Acolyte has also bagged a good draw for a front runner in stall two from which to attack and, with James Doyle in the saddle, everything points to a big run.
