Kempton preview: Put your Faith in Gold

| 23.09.2015

Trainer Ralph Beckett does well with his runners at Kempton and Gold Faith can build on a promising debut run to provide him with another success in the 7f maiden on this evening’s card (17.55).

The Newmarket handler has a 19 per cent at the Sunbury-on-Thames venue, and in Gold Faith has a colt who offered plenty to work on when fourth in a class 4 maiden at Leicester last month.

After showing plenty of early dash to chase the leaders, the son of Dark Angel kept on nicely under tender handling to finish a 3 1/2 length fourth to Scarlet Dragon.

Gold Faith looks sure to come on a bundle for that outing, and now drops down into class 5 company.

That gives the two-year-old major claims if making the expected progress, and Beckett has enjoyed more success with his runners in class 5 company than any other in recent years.

With Harry Bentley in the saddle everything points to a big run, and Gold Faith can get the better of main market rival Rock Warbler to land the spoils before going on to better things.

Khusoosy has a progressive profile and can defy top weight to land take the 1m 3f handicap (20.25).

The Saeed bin Suroor trained gelding has won three of his six starts, and two of those successes have come at this venue.

In the last of those, the three-year-old came with a sustained run from the furlong market to take up the running inside the last and win going away by 1 1/2 lengths off a mark of 85.

Khusoosy got put up 7lb for the victory, but showed he could be competitive of his revised rating of 92 when staying on strongly to finish a 3/4 length never nearer fifth to Majeed last time out over course and distance.

It was an effort which suggested Khusoosy had more races in him, and this class 3 affair doesn’t look as competitive.

With Dane O’Neill in the saddle it looks an excellent opportunity for Khusoosy to get back to winning ways and further enhance his excellent strike rate.
