With Euro 2016 just around the corner, Coral look at five outsiders who could make their respective nations’ squads next summer if they surprise this season, with World Cup holders Germany favourites at 3/1 with Coral to win the tournament.
Anthony Martial
His mega money move to Manchester United could work wonders for the 19-year-old’s career after a scintillating start to life at Old Trafford. He is already being tipped as the next big thing for France and should he stay fit and keep performing can definitely be selected for his country.
Julian Draxler
Following Kevin De Bruyne’s blockbuster switch to Manchester City, Wolfsburg were quick to replace him by pouncing for highly talented German youngster Draxler.
At 22, he is the right age to push on and impressed for Schalke in the Champions League last season. While the likes of Marco Reus, Mario Gotze and Thomas Muller are all ahead of him in the pecking order, if the attacker has a prolific season, he could well make Joachim Low’s squad.
Callum Wilson
His start to life in the Premier League with Bournemouth has been nothing short of remarkable and the 23-year-old has shown he is a natural finisher. With five goals from six matches, he is on track to challenge for the Premier League top scorer award and he surely cannot be overlooked by Roy Hodgson if he hits double figures.
Domenico Berardi
Sassuolo’s talented winger can force his way into national coach Antonio Conte’s thinking with impressive displays and has the potential to be a permanent fixture for the Azzurri for years to come. Blessed with pace and skill, he also has an eye for goal and could well be selected next summer.
Jose Luis Gaya
He may only be 20, though already he is being tipped as Spain’s next left back for years to come and is likely to emulate Jordi Alba, who also emerged from Valencia’s youth academy. There is no reason why he can’t be selected and can even challenge for a starting spot.
