Euro 2016 qualifiers: Sweden to maintain gap after trip to Russia

It’s second plays third in this Euro 2016 Group G on Saturday, as Sweden (3/1 to win with Coral) travel to Russia, who trail their visitors by four points.

These two sides would have been expected to be competing for the top spot in this pool, but instead it is Austria who are the runaway leaders. With only one more automatic spot remaining for next summer’s tournament this could be a tense affair.

Russia have registered a pair of wins, two draws and tasted defeat on two occasions so far in qualifying; they are the epitome of consistently inconsistent. The Sbornaya are 21/20 to get a much-needed victory here in order to close the gap on their Swedish opponents.

The Swedes are undefeated in qualifying, but the Zlatan Ibrahimovic-led side have drawn three of their matches so far in this competition and another share of the spoils can be backed at a tempting 9/4. The teams also couldn’t be separated in their meeting earlier in this group.

Those looking for a bit more security in their bet may turn to the double chance market, where the visitors and the draw is priced at 4/5, not a bad for a team enjoying an unbeaten campaign.

Ibra has been in inspired form for his country and has already scored five goals in just four appearances in these qualifiers and he’s 4/1 to break the deadlock. However, those looking for a heftier price may look to Seb Larsson. He hasn’t had much action at Sunderland this term but his expert set-piece execution makes him long at 16/1 to notch first.

Russia have alleged Arsenal target Aleksandr Kokorin at their disposal and the forward is 7/1 to be first on the scoresheet.

Sweden haven’t conceded more than once in any of their games so far and Russia have netted just once in three clashes with the top two, making backing under 0.5 Russia goals at 12/5 very tempting.
