Patriotic punters celebrate Ashes win

| 08.08.2015

Patriotic punters were celebrating this morning as England wrapped up the Ashes series against Australia. The Three Lions were 7-2 with leading bookmaker Coral before the series got underway and were well backed to win back the urn to cost Britain’s bookmakers a substantial six-figure pay-out.

England are the 15-8 favourites to win the Team of the Year at the BBC Sports Personality of Year awards in December, while Stuart Broad is 9-1 to win the main award after being cut from 100-1 following his performance in the Fourth Test.

“It’s been one of the most spectacular Ashes series we have ever seen and those patriotic punters who stuck their confidence in England before this series got underway will be celebrating even louder after this win,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“We make England the favourites to win the Team of the Year award, while both Stuart Broad and Joe Root are in contention, according to the betting, to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year,” added Hill.

Coral have opened up betting on the next Ashes series where Australia are 4-6 favourites, England can be backed at 5-2 and the Draw is 9-2.

**Fifth Test

11-8 England, 3-1 Draw, 6-4 Australia

**Next Ashes series

4-6 Australia, 5-2 England, 9-2 Draw
