Celtic v Malmo
While this is the two teams’ first-ever meeting, Scottish champions Celtic have neither lost nor conceded against Swedish opposition in four attempts, which is why they are the odds-on 4/6 match favourites here.
The Hoops have a Swede on their books in Mikael Lustig, and the right back is 9/1 to score anytime. While another Scandinavian Stefan Johansen (2/1) of Norway has netted twice in the competition this campaign already.
But prolific striker Leigh Griffiths (even-money) is on fire this term so far, having already managed four goals.
Basel v Maccabi Tel Aviv
Despite being far apart geographically, these two teams incredibly met four times in the 2013/14 season, in the Champions League and then Europa League. Basel were undefeated from all of them and only conceded in one of those games, which is why they are the heavy favourites at 8/15 in this first leg.
With iconic Argentine Walter Samuel at the back Tel Aviv are up against it, while in attack Marc Janko is the man to back at 5/4 to score anytime.
Valencia v Monaco
Remarkably, these two teams’ only competitive meeting was in a European Cup Winners’ Cup first round double header back in 1980/81, which Valencia won 5-3 on aggregate. They are 3/4 odds-on favourites for victory again.
Going forward, the Bats have a wealth of talent, including the likes of Spain capped trio Paco Alcacer, Alvaro Negredo (ex-Manchester City) and Rodrigo Moreno (former Bolton Wanderers loanee), who are respective 13/8, 19/10 and 9/4 shouts in the anytime scorer market.
