Coral’s rumour reel: Watford to lure Liverpool striker?

Published:

First up this morning, Watford (6/4 with Coral to be relegated) are flexing their transfer muscles yet again. The ambitious Hornets have thrown their hat into the ring for Liverpool forward Fabio Borini, also a reported target for Sunderland and Inter Milan.

As if the Hertfordshire club weren’t involved in enough summer deals already, the big-spending Premier League new boys are also said to be battling Championship club Brighton and Hove Albion for Feyenoord flank threat Elvis Manu. Both teams are believed to have had bids of around £1.5m accepted for the 22-year-old Dutchman.

Back to Liverpool business, the Merseysiders may also be on the verge of losing another attacker, as Lazar Markovic could leave Anfield on a season-long loan to Turkish giants Fenerbache.

Neighbours Everton could also be set to make transfer window waves today, as Roberto Martinez’s men inch closer to completing a double swoop for Argentina cap defender Ramiro Funes Mori and Uruguayan forward Leandro Rodriguez. Finally!

Ukraine international Andriy Yarmolenko could also be headed to Goodison Park imminently, amid reports that the attacking midfielder has told current club Dynamo Kiev he may see out his contract and leave on a Bosman next summer if a move does not materialise.

In Manchester United news, the Old Trafford outfit could see one in and one out, as Louis van Gaal is said to have entered the fray for Schalke starlet Julian Draxler, who is also coveted by Juventus. Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion are thought to still be confident of prising out-of-favour defender Jonny Evans away from the Mancunians.

Sticking with Baggies, Albion sharpshooter Saido Berahino continues to be courted by Tottenham, with Mauricio Pochettino likening his transfer troubles to romance.

“It is never easy because there are always a lot of players around the world that you can sign,” said the Spurs head coach. “It’s like when you are in love with some lady – there are a lot of women around the world – but you want only one. Sometimes it is impossible. It’s about love. And in football it is the same.”

London rivals Chelsea (10/3 to retain the Premier League) could offload midfielder John Obi Mikel to Besiktas, as they continue to chase Juve dynamo Paul Pogba, while Chinese defender Zhang Linpeng is also tipped to be a Stamford Bridge target.

Across the capital, and West Ham United also feature in the morning gossip, amid rumours AC Milan marksman Alessandro Matri could be drafted in to ease their striker crisis.

While, finally, to finish this morning’s round-up, we stay in Italy as Inter Milan could finally poach Croatian winger Ivan Perisic from Wolfsburg, having tracked the 26-year-old for some time.
