Barcelona’s Pedro is still the talk of the town this morning, with the Spaniard reportedly in London and set to complete his surprise switch to Chelsea, who are 4/1 to retain the Premier League.

Rumour now has it that fellow La Masia graduate Cesc Fabregas was instrumental in his decision to join the Blues for a deal worth a mooted £21m.

Staying in the English capital, and with out-of-favour Nou Camp stars, there could be a flurry of transfer activity about to commence at Upton Park.

West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan told press that the Hammers are finally close to capturing Barca’s Alex Song, pending a medical, with new boss Slaven Bilic later confirming a deal is in place.

“You’ve seen the Chairman’s statement on Alex Song, and we’ve agreed the terms. Now it’s subject to the medical,” said the Croatian coach, though Everton and Tottenham are still believed to be circling.

The Londoners have also suffered another set-back in their striker search, with Galatasaray revealing they turned down a £3.5m bid for frontman Burak Yilmaz, meaning the Hammers may have to turn elsewhere.

A statement from the Turkish giants read “West Ham United offered us €5m for Burak Yilmaz. But our player didn’t demand leaving and also our club has no thought of selling him.”

Meanwhile, on the continent, Porto’s Brazilian left back Alex Sandro is in Turin for a medical with Juventus, meaning current incumbent Patrice Evra is set for some staunch competition.

Remaining in Italy, AC Milan (16/1 to win Serie A) have apparently been warned they will have to fork out a fee in the region of £15.5m if they are to prise midfield dynamo Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United.

Elsewhere, Southampton may have thought they made it through the summer relatively unscathed compared to last season’s exodus, but could be about to lose two important players.

Spurs are the latest club to be linked with powerful midfield marshal Victor Wanyama, while Manchester United, having seemingly missed out on Pedro, could return to plunder the south coast club for shock target Sadio Mane.

The latest line from St Mary’s is that the Senegal forward is not for sale, with the Saints denying the Red Devils have made a bid. However, Southampton have admitted there is interest in their attacker from the Manchester club. Watch this space.

Finally, in more Man Utd news, the Old Trafford outfit and Tottenham are both though to be tracking Dynamo Moscow and Russia marksman Aleksandr Kokorin.
