After an opening day defeat at the hands of Manchester United, Tottenham are hoping to strengthen their strikeforce for the rest of the Premier League season.

In a bid to ease the heavy goalscoring burden on star striker Harry Kane, Mauricio Pochettino has revived interest in West Bromwich Albion frontman Saido Berahino, as he seeks a boost in his attacking ranks.

Berahino has long been linked with the north Londoners, but it is believed Spurs are still unwilling to meet the substantial £25m asking price set by the Baggies, who are 4/1 with Coral for a top 10 finish this term.

Tottenham are also confident of securing a move for Lyon attacker Clinton N’Jie after a £10m deal with the French club was reportedly agreed for the 21-year-old Cameroon international forward.

The Baggies, however, could see other stars depart The Hawthorns too, with Brown Ideye and Victor Anichebe both being put up for sale after the arrival of £12m record signing Salomon Rondon.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s hopes of luring Argentine centre back Nicolas Otamendi to Old Trafford have been given a new lease of life, as the 27-year-old is reportedly edging closer to a deal with Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils.

A potential departure from Liverpool this summer could be that of defender Mamadou Sakho, with Serie A giants Roma circling for his signature, after being left out of the Reds’ squad for their opening day win over Stoke City.

Soccer - FA Cup - Final - Arsenal v Aston Villa - Wembley Stadium

Arsenal’s out-of-favour midfielder Mathieu Flamini has been told by his employers that he can leave the Emirates this year, but the Frenchman is holding out for a potential pay-off from the club.

In the West Midlands, Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Spanish forward Adama Traore, with the 19-year-old set to agree a £12m switch form the Nou Camp.

Finally, Crystal Palace’s English attacker Dwight Gayle could turn down his proposed £6m move to the Championship, with Bristol City having come close to securing his services. Alan Pardew’s men are 8/1 to finish in the top six this season.
