Coral’s club-by-club guide to Premier League’s celebrity fan representatives

With the new Premier League season recently kicking off, Coral look at celebrity faces who you might see in the crowd at all the grounds over the course of the campaign, following some surprising appearances last term!

Arsenal
While Piers Morgan is the Gunners’ most famous mouthpiece, often fighting the club’s Twitter battles, there are also a few more celebrity supporters. Comedian Jack Whitehall and double Olympic Gold medallist Mo Farah can also be considered worthy fans.

Aston Villa
A club with a somewhat unexpected royal presence, Prince William is in fact a Villan, due to the fact that when he was at school all of his friends supported the big teams so he wanted one that was more middle of the table and which give him more of an “emotional rollercoaster”.

Staying with prestigious support, Prime Minister David Cameron is also a Villa fan, while internationally acclaimed Hollywood actor Tom Hanks is also a proud supporter.

Bournemouth FC
The Cherries count former Top of the Pops presenter and one-time British Celebrity Masterchef champion Jayne Middlemiss as a celebrity fan. In 1998 she came 77th in the FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll, coming in at 75 in 1999 before peaking at 74th a year later.

Chelsea
Supported by a clutch of celebrities, the Blues can count Hollywood A-Lister Will Ferrell, TV star Jeremy Clarkson and British actress Emma Watson as fans. The latter will be hoping that Chelsea can leave her spellbound this season and win the Premier League (9/4 with Coral to do so) again.

Crystal Palace
Stand-up comedian Eddie Izzard could have a lot to be cheerful about this season as a Palace fan after the club’s successful summer recruitment policy. Appropriately Virgin Airlines owner Sir Richard Branson is also a supporter with the Eagles set to fly this term.

Everton
Rocky star Sylvester Stallone will be hoping his club can start delivering the knockout blow to opponents this season; while in the case of their other big celebrity fan, Beatles’ Sir Paul McCartney, it could be just a case of Let It Be and see what happens.

Leicester City
British band Kasabian are big Foxes followers and guitarist Serge Pizzorno has earned himself a reputation as a closet footballer, after his inspired, improvised effort on Soccer AM during the penalty challenge, plus his wonder goal in Soccer Aid which beat former England number one David Seaman. We just had to include it.

Liverpool
With James Bond in the stands, the Reds have a license to thrill this season. Daniel Craig is an avid Liverpool fan, though is joined by his fellow professionals Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Samuel L. Jackson, while NBA star LeBron James is also a huge supporter.

Manchester City
Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher always has something to say about his beloved City and is often seen around the team’s dressing room on matchdays. Retired boxer Ricky Hatton is also another who is frequently in attendance and famously fought Juan Lazcano at the City of Manchester stadium in 2008.

Manchester United
A club that unsurprisingly has a number of star celebrity supporters, multi-Olympic medallist Usain Bolt is a huge fan and the Jamaican has often expressed his desire to play for them and former boss Sir Alex Ferguson invited him to train with the team, which was a bolt out of the blue. Justin Timberlake and Megan Fox are also international fans.

Newcastle United
While the Magpies don’t exactly have the X-Factor at the moment, they have presenter Cheryl Fernandez Versini (former Cole, nee Tweedy) as a fan. AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson is another who is often seen in the ground, as is Sting and Auf Wiedersehen Pet’s Jimmy Nail.

Norwich City
“Let’s be having you”! Television chef Delia Smith is a majority shareholder and is famously remembered for her half-time rallying cry to fans at a home game as Norwich battled relegation.

Avid sports fan Stephen Fry, known for Blackadder and QI, is also keen support. Other fans include former Blue Peter and current Sky Sports News presenter Simon Thomas, talented musician Myleen Klass, while Wolverine star Hugh Jackman gives the Canaries some bite.

Southampton
Coldplay drummer Will Champion apparently has a season ticket for the St Mary’s south stand and is arguably the only one famous fan of the club who are 9/4 for a top six Premier League finish this term. Ex-player and club legend Matt Le Tissier, who is a Sky Sports News pundit, remains a fiercely loyal supporter.

Sunderland
The Black Cats players can take lessons from their most iconic celebrity fan, Peter O’Toole, whose characterisation of Lawrence in the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia had many believing he was the real deal.

If Sunderland convince themselves that they can challenge high up the league, as much as O’Toole convinced himself he was Lawrence then they may have a chance of exceeding expectations this season. Other fans include ex-Formula 1 driver Mark Webber and former England cricketer Paul Collingwood.

Stoke City
Although the Potters pack a pretty mean punch already, boxing great Sugar Ray Leonard is one fan who wears the club’s colours with pride. Norwegian pop band A-ha plus American rapper Buster Rhymes are also apparently supporters of the Staffordshire side.

Swansea City
Glamorous Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is a huge Swans fan, while her celebrity husband and fellow Hollywood star Michael Douglas is also believed to have adopted them as a team. A notable mention should also go out to ‘Damned United’ actor Michael Sheen, who portrayed Brian Clough in the film.

Tottenham
Although former chairman Lord Sugar remains a loyal fan and is often seen at games in the directors box, Rumour Has It that multi-award winning singer Adele is also a Spurs supporter. Actors Jude Law and Ray Liotta are others who follow the club.

Watford
While Sir Elton John remains the club’s undisputed fan, they have made a habit of adding some stardust to their following recently. Actress Mila Kunis was persuaded to pledge her allegiance in a live radio broadcast and Jennifer Anniston is now a friend of the club after being presented with a shirt.

West Bromwich Albion
Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood, despite being raised in London, is a Baggies fan along with Eric Clapton, Frank Skinner, Lenny Henry and tennis star John McEnroe.

West Ham United
With the most powerful man in the world in your corner, you would think the Hammers can win everything, though US President Barack Obama is in fact a fan of the east London outfit after a trip to see them play in the early nineties and now watches them on television whenever he has time.
