Wimbledon men’s round 2: Top seeds Murray & Federer feature on day 4

Two of the top three seeds in the Wimbledon men’s singles draw, Andy Murray (9/4 title chance with Coral) and all-time Grand Slam great Roger Federer (8/1), are once again in action on day four of the 2015 edition.

Great Britain number one Murray meets Robin Haase of the Netherlands, while Swiss star Federer faces America’s Sam Querrey. Another former SW19 winner Rafael Nadal plays German-born qualifier Dustin Brown, who also now represent the USA, and sixth seed Tomas Berdych battles French veteran Nicolas Mahut.

Robin Haase v Andy Murray
All three Grand Slam meetings between these two have gone to the Briton, so it’s no wonder Murray is a massively odds-on 1/50 match favourite. Haase has caused him problems in those meetings, however, though punters may want to note none of those were on the Scot’s favoured surface.

Given how Murray wobbled in the second set against Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin and that straightforward progress against this next opponent is not assured, it’s well worth looking at the 11/4 price for victory in four sets.

Sam Querrey v Roger Federer
While Querrey is a former winner of Queen’s, Federer is a fearsome opponent for him, having dispatched the American in straight sets during both their previous encounters.

A repeat result enhances 1/20 in the match betting to 2/5, and there was so much to like about another vintage Federer performance in round one that nothing but a similar story here is on the cards.

Dustin Brown v Rafael Nadal
Believe it or not, Brown has beaten 10th seed Nadal on grass in their only head-to-head at the Wimbledon warm-up event Halle last year. He’s a big price at 6/1 to repeat that shock result, but the Spaniard did bow out of Queen’s early a few weeks back.

Punters and Nadal supporters alike have cause for concern, but some of that was allayed by his straight sets victory over Thomaz Bellucci in round one. This is reflected in him being a firm odds-on 1/12 match favourite, while another 3-0 win is 8/11.

Tomas Berdych v Nicolas Mahut
Czech Republic player Berdych completes the ATP’s top 10 players in action on Thursday, and holds a perfect five out of five against Mahut. It’s 1/6 that that becomes six wins on the spin, and even-money Berdych takes victory in straight sets.

There’s a lot to like about the 12/5 price for him to take it 3-1 after recording that result against Mahut’s compatriot Jeremy Chardy in round one, however.

Coral’s top tip: Murray is awesome at 11/4 to send Haase home with a win in four sets.
