Wigan travel to Warrington for crunch clash in Super League

Wigan are odds-on with Coral at 4/9 to beat Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, though the Wolves will be wanting revenge after the Warriors won 30-20 earlier in the season.

Winger Dom Manfredi crossed for a hat-trick on that occasion and he is 13/2 in the first scorer market, or odds-on at 8/13 anytime. Liam Farrell also has a great record against the Cheshire outfit, and is 5/4 in the anytime market.

Coach Shaun Wane has said that he “freaked out” at half time in the Salford match, when they were trailing: “We started very poorly. That was the most I have ever freaked out.

“A different Salford side turned up to the one that played at Wakefield the previous week. This has been the case all year with our opponents.

“We were far better in the second half and won it 19-6. Had we started as we finished, the winning margin would have been comfortable.”

Warrington, meanwhile, come into the game off the back of a 34-24 victory against Leigh, which saw them reach the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup. Coach Tony Smith talked up the side’s second half performance.

“How we played at the start of the second half is how we planned to play in the game,” he said.

“And we did for large degrees of it, even the first half, but we just lapsed on some of their last plays. We let ourselves get behind because they scored off their last plays twice, and then one off our last play as well.

“So there was just softness about our defence at times. I thought overall that our offence wasn’t direct enough in the first half, and we turned over too many balls,” he continued.

“In the second half, we got hold of the ball and ran hard and ran through the middle, and probably broke their back.

“But I’ve got to say that Leigh were very spirited, and took their opportunities and put us under pressure for big parts of that game. They showed that they’re a really competitive team.”

The Wolves’ best chance of scoring could be through Gene Ormsby, who is 10/1 in the first scorer market, while Kevin Penny is evens anytime.
