Spurs old boy Dempsey joins Kaka and Villa for MLS All-Star Game

Tottenham are in the mile high city Denver, Colorado for this year’s MLS All-Star Game and Spurs supporters know one or two of their opponents quite well.

Seattle Sounders send influential attacking captain Clint Dempsey, a former White Hart Lane forward and 5/1 chance to score first, as part of an ensemble cast which includes Kaka and David Villa of the best talent playing stateside. Coral make the MLS All-Stars 7/4 to upset Spurs, who are 13/10 for victory themselves, with a draw priced at 12/5.

In celebration of this prestige friendly that often pits teams from across the pond with American-based soccer stars, we also offer an attractively enhanced matchday special of 11/4 for a Tottenham win with both teams scoring. Please note there is a maximum stake of £20 on this brilliant bet.

The MLS All-Star squad has been hit by withdrawals; ex-England midfield duo Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard miss out alongside LA Galaxy skipper and ex-Spurs scoring hero Robbie Keane. Dempsey’s clubmate and former Newcastle United frontman Obafemi Martins is absent too.

Even without these names from the Premier League past there are scoring dangers aplenty in MLS All-Star ranks. Spain’s record scorer Villa (5/4 in the anytime market) and 2002 World Cup winner Kaka (better at 7/4) should need no introduction to punters.

Both of these illustrious names have been outperformed in the MLS scoring charts by diminutive Italian forward Sebastian Giovinco, who looks the best value at 2/1 anytime, and Sierra Leone attacker Kei Kamara (also 7/4).

Tottenham’s key personnel remain the same with Mauricio Pochettino offloading lots of midfield deadwood this summer. Brazil box-to-box player Paulinho, plus French flops Etienne Capoue and Benjamin Stambouli have all been moved on with White Hart Lane academy graduates Nabil Bentlaeb and Ryan Mason establishing themselves in the engine room.

In front of them are attacking trio Nacer Chadli (11/4 anytime), Christian Eriksen and last term’s 30-goal hero Harry Kane (a 6/1 shot to grab the opener). Who Pochettino can add to relieve the burden upon his proven performers remains to be seen, but they remain punters best bets for Spurs scorers here.

Coral’s best bet: Take advantage of the awesomely enhanced 11/4 odds offered in our matchday special for a Tottenham victory but the MLS All-Stars scoring.
